How to get a stable tempo
Tap a clear kick, snare, or pulse for at least four beats. Keep the same subdivision and continue for a measure or two; the calculator averages up to eight recent intervals. A pause longer than two seconds starts a new measurement automatically.
This is a manual estimate, not an audio analysis. For recordings already in LangBeat, use the song BPM, key and Camelot finder to see measurements tied to the exact audio.
Questions
How does a tap-tempo calculator find BPM?
It measures the time between your taps, averages the most recent intervals, and converts that interval into beats per minute. A steadier series of taps gives a steadier estimate.
Does LangBeat record my microphone or audio?
No. This calculator listens only for button presses. It does not request microphone access, upload audio, or send tap timing or the calculated BPM to analytics.
Why does the result change while I tap?
The estimate updates as new intervals enter the average. Tap on the same beat for several measures, and reset if you change songs or begin following a different subdivision.
Why might my BPM be half or double the published tempo?
Listeners can tap the main pulse, a half-time pulse, or a faster subdivision. If your result is exactly half or double another measurement, both may describe different ways of counting the same recording.
